Gang-Related Shooting on 8th & Ardmore

Local residents reported witnessing a gang-related shooting in the parking lot of Jons Marketplace on the southeast corner of 8th & Ardmore at around 2:10 am Sunday.

At least four shots were fired with one male victim getting hit in the face with one bullet. He was lying in a pool of blood for close to ten minutes before city employees arrived to transport him to the hospital.

Four male suspects believed to be gang members were seen fleeing the scene.

The 20-year-old victim was apparently mistaken for a rival gang member. Currently in an induced coma with the bullet still lodged in his head, he is listed in serious but stable condition as of Sunday.

This incident follows the triple shooting on Shatto Place a week ago (February 9th) in which one person died and two were injured.

There was also a shooting on Mariposa by Pico, just south of Koreatown’s formal borders on February 5th . There was one injury in that incident, which was classified as an ADW or assault with a deadly weapon.

On January 20th, two men were shot dead on 3rd & Normandie at 1:52 pm. Those were the first homicides of the year for the Koreatown area.
